In case we want to have off topic conversations that don't require a separate topic. Of course we can always do like we normally did at FtF and just include it in the game day thread as well, just figured this might be an option. We can also decide to update this as a new thread monthly, seasonally, or however we feel like doing it (if it seems one of those is better I can edit the title of this topic accordingly)

Damn, just saw that Kyrie Irving was traded and the return included a few 2029 draft picks. I wonder if there's a limit to how far ahead you can trade draft picks (in the NBA or the NHL). I know the top tier of offer sheets involves giving up 4 of your next 5 first round picks so it's potentially at least 5 years, but I've never heard of a trade anywhere close to that, let alone 7 drafts from now.

Hey everyone. Since this is the general chat thread I figured I'd make the first post here. I was a lurker on ftf but only now decided to join the discussion once it moved over here. I didn't want to join the vox registration mostly because something about them seemed a little shady (see: money first, everything else whatever). This new spot feels more fan motivated so I'll throw in some of my thoughts around the other threads. See you around.

I can't speak for the host company (I literally googled free forums and created this from the first site that came up) but this was just made as a way to keep the community together. I know the host company likely gets some money from the ads but neither me nor any of the users on the site are getting anything for it. At some point if the ads are obnoxious enough I might throw the few bucks at them to get rid of them but if the free tier works and the ads aren't pushing people away (or they just bypass them with an ad blocker like me) it's probably not worth it. Another potential upgrade I might do down the road because it would be cheap is to get a domain for the site. On the other hand, I don't expect that we're really expanding our user base beyond people who were already at least reading stuff on Fear the Fin so I don't think it's too important to make something easily discoverable to new people. Edit: Also I'm not entirely sure there will be a ton of chat in this thread. People at FtF mostly talked in whatever the "latest" thread was (often the Game Day Thread) and since that's at the top I could see it continuing here. |

Attrition has been a concern of mine going into this. We’ll eventually need new folks. It’s what makes me believe we need dedicated writers, site admin support, and but few of us have the bandwidth or even desire to contribute in that way.

Random question: whatever happened to pyroglyph? Noticed they stopped posting on the old FtF and don’t see them here either. Always appreciated their deep hockey knowledge.

He did join the discord server and was the first person to bring that up as a possibility, but we only ever had a couple posts on that (aside from me making a couple of game day threads which weren't posted in since FtF was still happening) |
